Prof. Mengesha Admassu, a visionary leader in public health, has dedicated his career to improving healthcare access and education in Ethiopia. As President of the University of Gondar, he transformed the institution into a hub for medical excellence, establishing the renowned eye hospital and securing vital funding for the Mastercard Foundation Scholarship Program. His passion for primary healthcare led him to found the International Institute of Primary Health Care in Ethiopia (IIfPHC), empowering countless communities through innovative healthcare initiatives.

Prof. Mengesha Admassu's dedication extends beyond academia. He served as a Senior Advisor to the Ministry of Science for Higher Education and the Ethiopian Academy of Sciences, shaping national policies that prioritize healthcare education. His tireless efforts have been recognized by prestigious organizations like LIGHT FOR THE WORLD and the Carter Center, who commended his leadership in establishing the Dabat Rural Health Project and Community School.

A recipient of numerous awards, Prof. Mengesha Admassu continues to inspire generations of healthcare professionals with his unwavering commitment to public health and social justice. His legacy is a testament to the power of education and leadership in transforming lives and communities.

Yifokire Tefera Zele is an assistant professor in Environmental and Occupational Health at Addis Ababa University School of Public Health and adjunct staff at the University of Gondar. Served as vice president for business and development at the University of Gondar, academic and research director and student dean of the College of Medicine and Health Sciences. He is the founding member of the Occupational Health and Safety training program in Ethiopia and president of the National Occupational Health and Safety Professionals Association. Worked with the US Department of Labour-funded projects of the World Vision Ethiopia on E-FACE (Ethiopians Fighting Against Child Exploitation) and E4Y (Engaged, Educated, Empowered Ethiopian Youth), expert consultant to ILO East African Regional Office to improve the industrial relations and working conditions, principal investigator of the Bloomberg Global Road Safety Initiative of Addis Ababa city in collaboration with Johns Hopkins University (2015 - 2025), founding member and consultant for the MasterCard Foundation Scholars Program at Gondar University project (2016-2025), core project development team member of the SAFEWORKERS Norad funded project in Collaboration with University of Bergen and Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (2021 - 2026). Conducted intensive research in the workplace and health and published several articles. He has been a Rotarian since 2013. Participated in several national initiatives and received recognition.

Dr. Taye is a seasoned business leader and policy expert with over 25 years of experience as a policy consultant, investment advisor and business leaders and entrepreneur development instructor in the United States and Ethiopia. His research focus is energy policy and business development. He also coaches’ business entrepreneurs, conducts seminars & delivers motivational messages in the areas of human and community development, business development, and financial services in various parts of the world. Eng. Derebew Shankute is a consultant in ambient air and environmental pollution. Worked as a senior air quality research engineer for the (USA) California government vehicle inspection and maintenance (I/M) “Smog Check” program for over twenty-eight years. The California “Smog Check” program tests vehicular exhaust emissions to ensure that polluting vehicles get tested, repaired and passed before they renew their California vehicle registration card. It inspects exhaust gas and pollution control systems, and performs functional checks of emissions control systems, the on-board computer diagnostics (OBD) systems, and exhaust gas emissions to verify they meet the California Vehicle Emissions Standard.

Founder, President, and Chief Engineer of “Vehicular Smog-less Air for Ethiopia” (V-SAFE) a California/USA 501(c)3 nonprofit and public benefit organization. Its mission is to lessen vehicle-caused ambient air and environmental pollution in Ethiopia https://www.smoglessairforethiopia.com . From 2014 to 2016, VSAFE under Contract No. SCIP 026 conducted a “Vehicle Emission Reduction Project in Addis Ababa.” It was jointly funded by the Royal Norwegian Government, the Royal Danish Government, and the English Department for International Development (DFID.) This contract with the Addis Ababa Environmental Authority (a government entity) provided vehicular pollution public awareness, capacity building, a California “prototype Smog Check,” and a diesel-fueled vehicle study. Alebachew Alemnew Wobete holds a B.Ed. in Pedagogical Science and English Composite Degree, an MA in Psychology, and a PhD in Education. He is one of the co-founders of Aha Psychological Services (Plc.), a training, research, and counselling centre. Alebachew served both government, private, and nongovernmental organizations in different positions. He has overseen several national and international consultancy assignments about MHPSS, gender, EIE, ECCE, SRH, baseline surveys, need assessments, and project and program evaluations. His most recent projects include FGM policy enforcement in Asayita (Afar), a baseline survey and end-line evaluation of FGM; a national gender performance assessment in GEQIP-equity; ToT on mainstreaming MHSS with the education system; the needs and perspectives of MHPSS provision to students in conflict-affected regions; a situational analysis of education in emergency (EiE); determinants of SRH services seeking behavior in Afar; an evaluation of model community learning centers; the development of national vocational guidance and counselling guidelines for TVET institutions in Ethiopia and others.

Dr. Almaz Baraki Cherkos is currently retired and working as an independent consultant. She is an internationally validated educational consultant for the British Council both in Gender Equality and Inclusion and School leadership in the connecting classrooms projects. Dr. Almaz secured her BA Degree in English Language from Addis Ababa University in 1985, MA from AAU in 2004, MEd from the UK in 2006, and PhD from AAU in 2014. She has over 22 years of high school English language teaching experience, more than 18 years of consulting in national and international capacities for the British Council, 15 years of educating teachers in Kotebe, 2 years as President of Kotebe University, 2 years as dean of Tegbareid TVET. She has worked as a communication skills trainer: presentation skills, Report writing, Work ethics, teamwork, social media management, public relations, and conflict management. Dr. Almaz is passionate about working with teachers at all levels and is happy to share her unreserved expertise and potential within the education system to bring change in the teaching/learning process. She has also attended and been certified for different short-term trainings inside and outside the country by different organizations. She has served as a Board member for Debremarkos University, and is currently Journal editor for Civil Service University, and Kotebe University of Education. She is also a lifelong Member for the Ethiopian Red cross Association.

Fasil Asrat is an automotive Technician. He graduated from Dire Dawa Technical School in 2001 and Addis Ababa Tegbareid College in 2014 specializing in Automotive Technology Management. He worked at “SOSEE” a non-governmental organization from 2005 to 2014 as a technical manager. He worked on all classes and models of vehicles; gasoline and diesel-fueled, hybrid, electric, cars, generators and agricultural machinery. He also worked as a lead technician for “Vehicular Smog-less Air for Ethiopia” (V-SAFE). He conducted exhaust emissions inspection and maintenance (IM), and diesel-fueled vehicle study, recorded and kept inspection data, serviced, and calibrated test equipment, trained new technicians, and performed educational public outreach events. Currently, he owns a vehicle repair business and has five skills in auto. He runs ‘Auto’ a live-stream TV broadcasting program once a week on “FBC” in collaboration with Octagon Trading.
